DigiPal at DH2012 Hamburg

Barely back from the Leeds International Medieval Congress, we are now preparing for another conference: Digital Humanities 2012 (DH2012) in Hamburg next week. Peter Stokes will be presenting his model of handwriting (as discussed in the series on this blog, 'Describing Handwriting') and demonstrating how the system is being used in practice. The same session will also include a paper by Lior Wolf and his team from the School of Computer Science at Tel Aviv University who will be presenting the results of some preliminary analysis of the DigiPal data to determine which idiographs are most distinctive of individual scribes. Detailed abstracts (approx. 1500 words) of both papers are now also freely available from the conference website and will be in the printed Book of Abstracts. Full citations for the two papers are:

For those who are attending, the two papers will be in Session LP13 in Lecture Hall C on Thursday, 19 July 2012, from 11am; see the Conference Schedule for further details.

Once again, we look forward to seeing you there!
